Australis Art Gallery is situated in Kuranda, the picturesque mountain retreat,
nestled at 400 metres altitude, 25 km northwest of Cairns, surrounded by lush World Heritage Rainforest.
The gallery is situated in the main street of Kuranda, at very close proximity to the Railway and Skyrail stations, cafes, the original Kuranda Markets, Butterfly World, exotic hand-crafted goods, Aboriginal artifacts, etc.
Visitors to the gallery can take advantage of the Skyrail, the Scenic Historic Railway or travel by car or bus along the Kuranda Range Road.
The philosophy of the gallery is to reflect the surrounding tropical beauty, as seen through the eyes of celebrated Australian and International artists. Celebrated painters such as David Stacey, Richard Bogusz, Ludo Collingwood, Ludij Peden, Angela Meyer and many emerging or well-established local talent' colourful paintings enchant the visitors. We exhibit paintings, sculptures, glass work, email cloisonné, pottery (stoneware, raku, Cape York Porcelaine, Anagama), prints.
Exhibitions: The international glass artist Tina Cooper is presently exhibiting Tribal Tribute Series created in honour of the primal creation force, not just of man and woman, but energy abiding all creation. The inspiration of each of these unique pieces comes from the indigenous people relationship with Mother Earth.
